Sierra Nevada Locks Up Three Commits
INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. – The Sierra Nevada lacrosse program welcomes the commitment of three players to join the Eagles. Jason Rivas, Alessandro Ponce and Brent Fahy will all be receiving their education at the Lake Tahoe institution.
Rivas, a native of Los Angeles, was a standout for Birmingham High. He was the top offensive producer for the Patriots while also playing for the LA Mavs, LIV LAX and 818 Lax club programs. Rivas was a first team All-City pick in 2015.
"We couldn't be more excited to have Jason joining the Eagles,” said SNC head coach Matt Blamey. “He is a dynamic midfielder who has an exceptional skill set. It is rare to find such a talented faceoff midfielder who is also a consistent offensive threat. We can't wait to get Jason in an Eagle uniform next year."
Ponce, who hails from Redding, Calif., is a four-year starter for Redding High and the top assist man for the program. He was recognized by the NCJLA as an all-star on attack. Ponce also played on the ADVNC Sacramento club team for three years.
"Alessandro is an exciting addition to SNC's Class of 2020," said Blamey. "He is a dynamic player who can help us fill multiple roles. He has great vision and we expect him to make an early impact for us.”
Fahy comes to Lake Tahoe from the San Francisco Bay Area, where he is a four-year starter and team captain for Burlingame High. He was the team-leader in assists and ground balls while finishing second in scoring for the Panthers. Fahy was a first team all-league selection.
"We are extremely pleased to have a player of Brent's caliber commit to our program,” said Blamey. "Brent is a multifaceted athlete who will help our team all over the field.”
