SDSU Names Co-Captains
SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego State men's lacrosse team has selected co-captains to lead them into the 2017 season. Kevin Leis and Adam Gargus were unanimously selected by the team this spring.
Both athletes are tremendous leaders on and off the field, and the team will lean on their experience to guide them through a tough regular season schedule, according to new head coach Jesse Foss.
Leis is a junior attackman from Sacramento. He is a three-year starter at attack and returns as one of the team’s leading scorers. Leis posted 38 points (26g, 12a) in 2016 after an outstanding freshman campaign where he put up 36 points (26g, 10a).
Leis, who is a product of Bella Vista High School, was a four-year varsity starter and first team all-league selection his junior and senior seasons. He will once again be counted on to be one of the team’s leaders on offense.
Gargus is a senior defenseman from Bainbridge Island, Wash. He is a four-year starter for the Aztecs and one the team’s leaders in ground balls, credited with 154 ground balls in his three seasons. Gargus was selected to the SLC all-freshman team in 2014.
Gargus is a product of Bainbridge Island High School, where he was a key contributor on one of the top prep programs in Washington. Gargus will lead a strong defensive unit this spring.
The Aztecs begin their 14-game schedule on the road against Claremont College on Saturday, Feb. 4.
