Sierra Nevada Rolls UC Davis
DAVIS, Calif. -- The Sierra Nevada men's lacrosse team improved to 2-0 overall and remain undefeated in the WCLL after a 16-3 victory over conference rival UC Davis on Saturday afternoon.
Leading the charge for the Eagle offense was attackman Alex Brownlee, who netted three goals and added two assists. Other multiple goal-scorers for SNC included attackman Nic Zvirzin and midfielders Dylon Fangmeier, Nick Southron and Danny Dubyak.
In all, 10 different Eagles found the back of the net. In particular, midfielder Quinn Nicodemus created many opportunities for the Eagles, dishing out three assists on the afternoon.
The Sierra Nevada defense remained stout, not allowing an even-situation goal all afternoon. Long-stick midfielder Jack Witt continued his dominance between the lines, grabbing nine ground balls and adding a goal and an assist.
"To quote our talented defensive coordinator Matt Day, our goal is to simply go undefeated each week," said SNC coach Matt Blamey. "Being 2-0 in conference is the result of that goal. I am particularly proud of our unselfish style. We played our best lacrosse to date this afternoon. If we continue to improve at this rate each week, I think we'll be happy with the results in May. Right now we're just focused on next weekend."
The Eagles continue WCLL play on the road as they make the trek to Humboldt State. Faceoff is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25.
